Modular Optical Disk (MOD) Service

magneto-optical-diskData protection on an optical disk can be compromised at times!

For Medical Facilities where Open MRI’s such as Profile II are used they rely on optical disks to save the digitized images. Magneto-Optical disks (MOD’s) were originally 5.25″ or 130mm. They look like the old style dvd cartridges with a cd inside. The data is recorded on both sides of the disk and the disk has to be turned over to read the other side. The disk reflective coating can be seen by pulling back the aluminium slider. The recording is made by a laser heating the disks magnetic layer so altering its magnetic state.

However when the disk is compromised and data is corrupted the MOD drive becomes useless in most cases and its expensive to retrieve the lost data. A-Myth Professionals have a cost-effective solution that can be used to extract the data intact and not comprise on RAW DICOM Images. We have handled many proprietary file system storage applications and extracted the data to more modern media for access by Windows PCs, Macs or Network storage.
